Where we started

Slavic Gospel Association (SGA), a 90-year-old ministry with a vital mission and history of training pastors and enabling local churches to reach out to their communities with the gospel in the countries of the former Soviet Union, had been experiencing years of decline in their donor file. To enable churches in these nations to do more ministry, SGA needed to revitalize their fundraising program.

Action plan

Our first step was to refresh the branding by bringing in an experienced branding consultant and a digital partner to refresh SGA’s website and digital assets. Then we added energy to the donor messaging and created a digital strategy, including an email series to tell relevant and encouraging stories about the ministry. Finally, we brought in a major gift consultant and leveraged an elite-level list partnership to start building a new prospect pipeline to grow the donor file.

Results

Almost immediately results increased, generating more net income for ministry. We started seeing above-average response rates right away — a trend that has continued throughout our partnership. Our direct mail acquisition program hit breakeven in just 6 months, and we increased revenue in house mailings by 73% in our first year. And we developed direct mail control packages in 2018 that we are still using to this day–a rare level of success in the world of direct mail fundraising.
